Life with Paroxetine

Hello, my lovely readers!

As you have probably seen my “Life with Seroquel and Life with Anti-Depressants” posts, today I am writing about my life with Paroxetine!

Paroxetine is a selective serotonin reuptake inhibitor. (SSRI)

What is Paroxetine used for?

Panic disorder

Social anxiety disorder

Post-traumatic stress disorder

Obsessive compulsive disorder

Generalised anxiety disorder

Social phobia

I have been taking Paroxetine for two years after I was slowly withdrawn off Fluoxetine, when that stopped working.

I was on 40mg, but it was decreased to 20mg because it was not helping with my depressive episode, it was making it ten times worse.

I personally think this has stopped working. Because my depression has got a lot worse, my suicidal thoughts are more intense, and my energy levels are worse. I can slowly feel my quality of life dropping again like before when I was not medicated.

I will be going back to my psychiatrist and asking him when I can get a face to face appointment.

The side effects what I had–

Dry Mouth – I have this side effect with Quetiapine as well, I am very use to this now and I must drink at least 4 bottles of water a day to keep my mouth hydrated.

Low appetite – When I first started Paroxetine, I did not have an appetite. I was not hungry at all but now my appetite has come back thanks to the Seroquel.

Heartburn – This annoyed me so much, I would eat food then I had heartburn every time. It has thankfully stopped which I am grateful for.

Insomnia – I have had days where I can sleep at night then I have nights what I can stay up till 6am because my mind is fully awake and hyper.

Drinking and Paroxetine–

You can drink on Paroxetine, but I do not advise while investigating his disappearance detectives discovered dictate it get a life that because it is a depressant and it makes my depressive episodes worse. I used to drink a lot with Paroxetine, and it made my head worse.

Sleep and Paroxetine

The first few days when you take Paroxetine you might feel sleepy or you might not sleep. When I first started Paroxetine, I suffered with bad insomnia and I was running off two hours of sleep which triggered my mania off. But now, it depends what day I have. If I have a good and positive day, I can sleep okay. But if I had a negative day, I do not sleep much.

Sex and Paroxetine

I am an incredibly open person when it comes to my mental health and life, but my Paroxetine has affected it and I now have a decreased sex drive. I just do not want to be touched but that is also due to previous trauma. Its not all down to Paroxetine and I need to work on that.

I enjoy writing this series and I hope you enjoy reading it!

See you soon.
